I prefer one-on-one conversation in a question-and-answer format (Socratic method). However, sometimes a straightforward explanation is needed. For math tutoring, the best results come from working through problems step-by-step.
I have been teaching at the college level for 6 years, and I have 2 years of earlier experience at the middle school level as well. My BS in Electrical Engineering enables me to tutor effectively in math and science, and my PhD in Philosophy qualifies me for Science, History, and some writing help (I have published in peer-reviewed journals). I have often tutored privately for friends and family, and they tell me I do a very good job.

With degrees in both Psychology and Religion from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, combined with the pre-requisites required for Veterinary School entrance, I am well qualified to teach and tutor a variety of subjects. During my college career I also studied engineering, so I am able to tutor advanced math and engineering as well. I have an extensive research background so I am able to assist students with lengthy research papers and laboratory reports. My diverse educational experiences enable me to tutor and teach young children and college students in algebra through calculus, physics, chemistry, biology, German, English, religion and psychology. I started off being an elementary aide/tutor in 1988 in public schools. I loved working with children so I decided to go back to college to become a teacher. I attended several colleges in different cities (where my husband, daughter and I lived at the time). We moved to Amarillo,Tx. in 1994 where I attended Amarillo College to finish my basic hours. I transferred to West Texas A&M University in Canyon,Texas. I graduated in 1998 with a BS in elementary education and a concentration in math- grade levels 1st through 8th. I have taught 1st and 3rd grade and also 8 years of middle school math.

After twelve semesters of college and a wide variety of courses, my college experience has left me with quite the education and still more to come. I am a Senior attending the University of Central Oklahoma pursuing a bachelor in Applied Computer Science. I have taken such a wide variety of courses in the previous six years that I have completed the major requirements for a bachelor degree in General Studies as well. This degree also stipulates I earn a minor, which I have completed in the area of Mathematics. My particular skills are in the areas of Math, Computers, and Life Science.
