I have recently acquired a Master of Education degree in Education-a lifelong dream. I have taught in both private and public schools in grades PreK-6. I have tutored many students along the way-including summer school for struggling readers and writers. My most recent assignment was a permanent substitute position in the first grade. I am a fan of Howard Gardner- I believe each student has his/her own learning style. Knowing these learning styles can help both teacher and student accomplish academic success. As an undergraduate, my focus for studies in English were both Critical Literary Analysis and Creative Writing. Analytical writing was stressed heavily, giving me the ability to interpret a text based on intrinsic value. The creative tract allowed me to experiment with my own abilities while keeping in mind strategies implemented by others I have read and studied. A requirement for all English majors at the university was to have intermediate skills in a foreign language.
