Most of my experience comes from substitute teaching. I have been a certified local substitute teacher since September of 2010. I have taught everything from math and science to physical education and music while working as a local substitute teacher. I was able to provide additional service by mentoring individuals who were struggling with material in lessons and assignments. Other professional experience comes from working as a private voice tutor since May of 2010. I have coached many individuals both young and old through voice lessons to establish a core of healthy vocal routines and technique. I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I spent a year as a Substitute Teacher in Lincoln, NE. I then took a year and a half break from teaching to recruit for a small college. I went back into teaching as a grade 7-12 mathematics teacher. I was responsible for the 7th grade through pre-calculus courses at Wheatland Public Schools in Madrid Nebraska. This school was then combined into Grant Public Schools. I am also a strong technical trainer in my current role and provide necessary computer and analytical training to all new associates at the current company I work for. I teach to the student. I find exactly what their strengths are and incorporate it in some way to learn something new. Education is a set of building blocks and can only be as strong as the foundation.

I have a BA in psychology and a BFA in studio arts and I am currently pursuing a place as a PhD candidate in the educational psychology program at UNL. I am experienced in math, english, psychology, and studio art. Also, I volunteered for the Lincoln Initiative for Tutoring program where I tutored elementary students after school and served as a role model. My teaching style is about positive feedback and patience. With my experience in psychology I have found that a calm nurturing environment lends itself to bolstering understanding for children. After receiving my college education I taught my own visual art curriculum in Western Illinois for two years. Here I worked with Elementary students and High School Students. I first teach my student what the strings are in standard tuning, letting them know what they're playing on. And then I'll teach them the basic chords. The next step of the teach program is to teach them notes as well as other chords. After they get the chords and the notes progression, I'll teach them the scales and solos. After taking one and a half years of guitar training, I believe that I can offer my students with the materials they need to play their favorite songs with the chords and strumming, as well as learning and coming up with new solos based on the theories that I teach them.
