I graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in Physics. I am currently a graduate student at SUNY Albany in the Physics Ph.D program. I have officially been a physics lab TA for one year, however before that I have helped many friends and acquaintances in physics and general math. I received a 770/800 on the GRE math test, and so far after 1 year of graduate study I have a 4.0 and have passed all of the Ph.D qualifying exams.

As a recent student, I am very familiar with what it feels like to be in the position a lot of the students are in right now. At the same time, I understand the best method about how to approach understanding the material in the easiest manner possible. The key is patience and practice. I firmly believe the best way to teach is to attempt many examples, rather than strictly lecture. If a student can see the pattern inherent in many of these problems, it makes understanding the initial concepts much easier. My approach to teaching/tutoring is simple. 1) Make an assessment of the student’s needs. This is a critical part of the methodology. The assessment of needs is based upon the student’s own statement of his abilities as well as empirical evidence of his performance and capabilities. 2) Develop a plan and design goals to meet those needs.
