Creative Writing is one of my top subjects! I am able to tutor students in fiction, nonfiction, and prose poetry. With an MFA in fiction and experience teaching creative writing in the undergraduate classroom, I am well-positioned to tutor students at any level of experience. Lessons are designed to personally accommodate the needs of each student. Some students prefer to focus on learning successful writing techniques; others seek in-depth feedback in order to better revise existing work. With a multitude of creative exercises and an encouraging, discerning approach, I am happy to tutor students who have different goals or genres.
I have a bachelor's degree from Coe College in Art History and Writing, which included both creative and technical writing courses for completion. As of 2013, I have a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Bowling Green State University.
In addition to my academic achievements, I have worked at Bowling Green State University as an instructor of composition and creative writing. I taught both the Introduction to Academic Writing and the more advanced Academic Writing courses, as well as an undergraduate creative writing workshop. During this time, I was also the acting Managing Editor of the literary magazine, Mid-American Review. As Managing Editor, I was responsible for maintaining the mailing and subscription databases, communicating with authors and poets, setting work with Adobe InDesign, selecting works for publication, editing the magazine, and much more.
