The advantage of one on one tutoring compared to classroom is that the lesson can be based around where the student’s strengths and weaknesses are rather than a blanket method. I also believe that the skills used in English can be best practiced and analyzed through writing rather than worksheets and tests. My comments on tutoring Reading : I am certified in the Orton-Gillingham method of reading instruction, and am pursuing a certificate of advanced graduate study in reading.

I have been a special needs teacher (k-8 moderate disabilities) for seven years, and an Orton-Gillingham instructor for eight years.
