A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated from college, with a degree in math. Personally, I love maths, because everything in math is logical, and maths is the most fundamental subject for a lot of things. A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate students at the University of Utah at the Economics department, and also as a Civil Engineer I have been exposed to many professional presentations to explain technical projects, as well as theoretical topics especially at graduate level where different economics perspectives have to be explained. I received 2 degrees at BYU in Actuarial Science and Comparative Literature. For 3 1/2 years I taught the entry level statistics class and was always among the highest rated teachers. I loved teaching the class and that is why I did it for so long. Most of my students would say my class was the only reason they passed the course or even showed up for it.
I teach mostly by working through application examples so that students can see what is actually happening more easily than a bunch of abstract theory. I do go over the theory while with the examples and I find that if students can see theory in application it improves understanding of both.

My favorite thing about teaching math is watching those students who once believed they were incapable of doing math become successful in mathematics. I love working with students, particularly at the secondary level, and believe that math is something to get excited about. I firmly believe that students should be guided on a path of discovery when learning math and they should explore where different math ideas came from and why they work. First of all, I like teaching physics and math. Many students complained that physics was too hard for them to learn. I think the main problem is that they learned it too fast and couldn’t understand the basic concepts. They need some more time and patience to figure out the basic mechanisms and develop the necessary skills and abilities to solve the concrete problems. These skills/abilities are so critical if they want to pursue a career in the areas of engineering and science in their future lives.
