I tutored all through college. I have tutored one-on-one and small groups, and I have also been a TA and taught a few class periods. In addition i tutored a student in High School in several subjects. Most of my experience tutoring has been in math, physics and engineering, but I am also fluent in Spanish. My teaching style is helping the student arrive at the correct solution. In problem based courses this is usually done through asking the student what they think the next step should be and guiding them through the process of problem solving. Once they start to understand problem solving then they do not only improve in the course that I am tutoring them in but in their other courses as well. As a recreation major, I have held a number of jobs working with children of all ages. My first job as a lifeguard and swim instructor helped me understand how to work with children ages three to fifteen and really get a feel for how their brains operate and the proper learning styles to use for each age. Moving on to my job as a camp counselor and staff member at 4-H Memorial Camp in Monticello I really started to familiarize myself with young adults and the way they behave in different settings.
