A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style has been to enthuse my students. I find the physical and mathematical models of the world to be fascinating, and try and show how exciting these models are to my listeners. Passing on that knowledge is incredibly rewarding, and I believe that I can present any scientific principal in an interesting way.
I have experience both tutoring degree level students in Geophysics and in mentoring junior programmers in programming C and C++. My science knowledge is second to none, and I am an extremely enthusiastic teacher. At school my strong math lead me to win the physics prize, and I continued with my interest in quantitative science through to my doctorate. Recently I have been developing my own software application, which uses both vector and matrix math in its design.

I design the lesson to the learning preference of the student. I incorporate technology, visual, tactile and kinesthetic teaching styles. This gives the student the maximum opportunity to learn. If a student is having trouble with reading comprehension there are various skill sets a child learns in order to help with standardized tests. I have experience in that area. An understanding of literary elements can also enhance a child's understanding of literature and reading. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in relationships first. If a teacher knows her/his students, she/he can usually find what motivates them and use that to gain their trust and interest. Having taught for as long as I have, I know of many different ways to reach students. A positive attitude and an easy going personality go a long way, and I am known for both.
I began my teaching career in South San Antonio, teaching at both the elementary level (K and 3) and at the middle school (6-8). At Shepard Middle School, I implemented a writing program that was credited with bringing standardized (TAAS at the time) scores up substantially, garnering our school a large monetary award from the state. After twelve years, I moved to the North East ISD, where I taught English at both Nimitz Middle School and Barbara Bush Middle School.
