A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with students and teaching them something new. The best feeling is when someone understands a concept that they didn't before; when something "clicks" for a student, I feel as if my job as a tutor was done. I'm a very determined, persistent, caring, and patient person; all of these characteristics have helped me become a great tutor.
As a current undergraduate chemistry and honors student at Arcadia University, I was recommended to become a tutor from several of my teachers my first year in college. I became a certified CRLA tutor and started tutoring my sophomore year of college; I've been tutoring ever since. I tutor chemistry, biology, math (beginner algebra, statistics, calculus I and II), and calculus based physics.

More About This Tutor...

I use a lot of repetition and the asking of questions to ensure that students are learning concepts. I also try to give them analogies to help them remember things. I love working with children, as the oldest in a big family, I have often served as caretaker while my father is at work. I currently have an 8 year old younger brother who I'm working with as well as one in his Sophomore year of High school. I'm helping him with algebra and pre-calc.
I've tutored kids within the inner cities of Atlanta, through a program called Emory reads. As a tutor I was responsible for helping them with their homework which included all subjects. I've also served as a teacher's aid, my responsibility was to ensure that the kids paid attention and address any problems in understanding that came up during the lesson.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a wide range of experience. For seven years, I have taught Special needs with children struggling with Autism and other emotional challenges. I also taught gifted and talented students in this school as well. I then taught Kindergarten in a private school in Texas where, after school, I also tutored Spanish I and all academics, as well. I lived in England for 4 years and had the opportunity to teach Grade 3 in London. It was here that my students taught me that there is no limit to what children can learn or do. With positive encouragement, only seeing the good in a child and fun lessons and activities, a child can reach way beyond our expectations!
First I like to get to know a student and discover all of their skills and strengths. I start with what they know, so they will immediately reach success. I slowly add new information at the rate that your child is abl ... read more

I love teaching and working with children and young adults. I truly believe that everyone has the ability to learn, but it’s just a matter of which way works best for them. I am patient, easy going, and considerate. My goal is to provide a strong commitment to enhancing and supporting the education of a child. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always believed that the greatest mistake a student of science can make is to memorize the material; there is simply too much material to memorize. I tutor the way I learn: to work to make real connections between topics and avoid brute force meorization. The key to me is engage the student and attempt to make them like the material they are learning. I realize how competitive and difficult science coursework can be and I always look to help the student feel confident.
As a student at Rutgers, I have been helping others with science related coursework for many years. As a senior, I decided to officially begin tutoring. I created a website called Premedtutors.com, and worked in the Rutgers Learning Center as a tutor in Biology, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physics. I will be attending Drexel University College of Medicine this August. As a student who has ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with students at all levels from pre-k to doctoral students and a present I tutor Master's degree students on how to write their dissertations. It is my contention that students are capable of far more than has been expected of them. The result of my perspective is that I now have students who are college professors themselves, teachers and IT professionals. Few if any of my students leave me without have a more global perspective of the world and a desire to make it a better place to live.
I began my college career at Columbia University, N.Y. where I matriculated in the top 5% of entrants. I moved to Africa where I lived and returned 10 years later. I joined the United Nations where I worked at headquarters New York and later as a field officer in the Middle East and South Africa. I loved working with the students in the Mission Acceptance program. I worked as a team leader, so I had the opportunity to work with a group of fellow mentors as well as students, which provided me experience with a variety of different students. I learned that each student has his or her own path to understanding the material and needs to be approached in a unique way. I find that in order to bring out the best in each student, one must understand how he or she receives information and plan accordingly.
I earned my BS in physics and spent over a year working on medical device research. As an undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh I spent some time in the Physics Undergraduate Lab helping students in the introductory courses. More About This Tutor...

I have a real passion for teaching, and tutoring allows me to have a strong connection with children and a better understanding of their learning preferences so that I may help them reach their goals. I am a life long learner and am enthusiastic about my subject matter. My students learn to share my enthusiasm for the material, and learn more productively as a result. I believe that in being patient, thoughtful and knowledgeable, students respond well to me and my teaching style. I bring an interdisciplinary approach to the material and am a proponent of the “Writing as Thinking” methodology as a way to teach effective writing. Great teachers can make a positive difference in a child's life and that is my ultimate goal as a tutor.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am an extremely flexible teacher who is able to accommodate the learning abilities in almost all of the students I teach. I adjust my style based on the population of students I am teaching. I focus on finding out how each student learns the best, (i.e. visually, auditory, etc.). I incorporate strategies that will engage each type of learner by using a variety of different styles. I feel successful when I get a positive response in the student desire to learn.
I attended Seton Hall University as an Education major. While pursuing my degree, I was very active in athletics, playing Tennis for the University. I was so diligent in my studies while simultaneously achieving state champion collegiate tennis status, that the academic advisor for the athletic department offered me a job tutoring the athletes in their studies.
