I have been tutoring since high school. I began as a tutor during summer school for students on track to graduate. I've tutored kids within the inner cities of Atlanta, through a program called Emory reads. As a tutor I was responsible for helping them with their homework which included all subjects. I've also served as a teacher's aid, my responsibility was to ensure that the kids paid attention and address any problems in understanding that came up during the lesson.
I use a lot of repetition and the asking of questions to ensure that students are learning concepts. I also try to give them analogies to help them remember things. Teaching was not something that I sought out to do, but that happened due to paths that I took in life. My first experience came as a graduate student, where I was a TA for an undergraduate level intro media class, where I graded lecture tests, as well as taught a lab section. It was an enjoyable experience, but my interests didn't rest within teaching at the time.
