Math and Science Tutoring

While obtaining my B.S. I tutored through a community development after school program for a year; in which I helped 4th-8th graders with their math and reading homework. A Little Bit About Me...

I love watching and learning from children. I believe that learning is closely related to confidence. I like to take the time to get to know children and understand what they like so that I can better understand how their brain works and how they process information. In understanding what they like, this gives me the ability to let them show me something new. The best way that I retained information in college was to teach someone else what I was studying. I graduated with 27 AP credits which helped me complete a B.S. at Clarke College in 3 years. At Clarke I found that tutoring my peers helped both the student and me. As a biology major at Clarke College I took many courses in science including biology, chemistry, and physics. Clarke is a liberal arts college so I took a variety of courses including English and History. A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently graduated from the University of Delaware and intend to pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry within the next few years. My major was in Chemistry with a minor in Biochemistry; I also focused on Theatre, Japanese, French, English, and Biology. I spent two semesters as a Teaching Assistant for General Chemistry and held personal office hours for tutoring regularly. I have worked at a learning center teaching students of all ages. In addition, I tutored various subjects in high school including ESL.
I strive to develop each student's interest in the subject at hand. He or she is far more likely to enjoy learning and retain information this way. I follow a method of individual trial and error supplemented with examples and corrections.
