A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored classmates and friends throughout college and after in science and math disciplines. My younger sister struggled in school and I assisted her with all disciplines from grades K-12. I studied Chemical Engineering at West Virginia University and got my degree in four years. Classes I took included four semesters of calculus, including multivariable and differential equations, two semesters of physics, inorganic and organic chemistry, and several chemical engineering specific classes. I feel comfortable with most math and science courses and I have some experience with statistics as well. I'm proficient in Microsoft excel and some statistics programs including minitab and JMP.

Since I remember my days as a student, I am very patient with students who’ve never been exposed to certain subjects or materials. I believe you can only move onto more complex areas after you have gained a thorough understanding of the basics. I prefer to use real-world examples to illustrate abstract concepts. In areas like mathematics and physics, I teach students methods of how to solve problems, not just to come up with the right answer. Completion of a BSBA degree in Management of Information Systems has given me valuable experience in a wide array of business functions as well as a team based and case driven experience over four years. The strongest of my skills are in reading, math, and technology suites such as all Microsoft Office products. I have taught, under minimal supervision by the standard teacher for one year on the fifth grade level.
