A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is basic. I feel it is most important for a student to grasp the basics before they can move on to more complicated subject material. I also am a strong believer of parental involvement. A parent knows their children's learning patterns best. I like to use different approaches. Activities that are visually and mentally stimulting help to form a connection between the student and the lesson. It is important to me that each of my student's set and acheive goals.
As a high school student, I attended Tiffin University to gain college experience and credit earlier than expected. My teaching style is not typical since I am not a certified teacher. I am creative in my teaching style using a variety of techniques. I understand that each child and person learns differently (Auditory, Visual, Tactile) so I try to discover their style and incorporate as much as possible. I try to teach using real life experiences and examples. I break things down into simple parts before moving on to the next level. I believe that it is important to instill confidence in the student which raises expectations and increases motivation. I am very patient with a good sense of humor.

I have always been a tutor of sorts. I love to teach kids because of the sparkle they get in their eyes when they finally understand what they are being taught. Each child have a different learning style so I try to work with them to see what works for them. I have worked with kids who have ADD and the gifted. The greatest thing I can teach is that we can teach to create intelligence, but wisdom comes from using all that you know.

I believe that no two students learn alike and the most important thing is to make sure students are having fun with learning. If learning is looked at as boring or hard students will try to avoid it, when learning is fun students learn without realising the work involved. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that students learn best when they are involved in the process. Therefore I like to put students in charge of their learning-whether it is presenting information gathered for a presentation or helping to develop the topics that will be discussed in a particular unit; as long as they are involved and not passive in the process students will learn. I believe it is my job to act as a guide not a dictator in a students education.
Currently, I hold a bachelor of history degree and I am working on obtaining teacher licensure at the Masters level in curriculum and instruction: AYA social studies.
