My comments on tutoring GED : Math portion only!

Very much based on working with what the student knows. I tend to start by having them explain to me what they are doing and what they think. I then provide some guidance and walk through a sample problem with them. I ask that they try another problem like it on their own and ask questions to prompt them as they work.
I started tutoring in high school for extra credit. I have primarily tutored in mathematics and general chemistry! I tutored a girl in Algebra 1 for a year, helped my best friend and her Mom with college mathematics, and worked through college algebra with my husband. In college I was a teachers assistant for general chemistry 1 and tutored in quantitative chemical analysis. Since then I have tutored a gentlemen for the math portion of his GED.
