Shakespeare is one of my top subjects!

Fun yet educational.
Statement of Teaching Philosophy for Teaching Writing I think that teaching writing should be both fun and educational. If you do not have the fun aspect in it you can lose students and not reach others. I believe it is important to be a positive model for my students. I want my students to know that what they write can be perfected and publishable. I want them to know that they never have to feel as if they are not good enough even if they do not know exactly how to get the words they want to say out. All it takes is practice. Then the student and I evaluate the result together. If I give a student practice examples to reinforce the ideas we have covered, then I am prompt in returning those materials, and will not move on until the student is satisfied with his own proficiency. I do not believe in standardized student learning.
I have always desired to be a teacher. I graduated from Penn State in 1981 with an English degree and a music minor. I have since continued to take classes in both English and Music Education. I have taught all grades, tutored individuals ... read more
