I've been passionate about math and physics for as long as i can remember. In high school I was enrolled in every AP math and physics class I could get my hands on, including Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Multivariable Calculus, Vector Calculus, and Differential equations. I continued to pursue physics as an undergrad at UT and am currently a senior set to graduate in december with a bachelors in physics. Let us bridge the Gap of knowledge

My teaching style is flexible, base on the student. There are three major types of learners: visual, auditory, and tactile/kinesthetic. Each person has a learning style that is best for his/her intake and comprehension of new information. Visual learners generally think in terms of pictures and learn best from visuals and handouts, this style is my favorate and is how I learn best. Auditory learners learn best by listening. They usually like lecture and classroom discussions, and they might need to read written material aloud in order to fully understand it. Tactile/kinesthetic learners learn through touching, feeling, and experiencing the world around them. They do well with hands-on experiments, but they may have a hard time sitting through lectures and notes.

My comments on tutoring Trigonometry : Expert

It is based on how the student learns. I like to explain the subject and then give and help workout examples. I learn by this method and have learned most other students do also, however some students need objects or physical representation, especially in lower level mathematics and I can accommodate every method of learning.
While attending California State University of San Bernardino and working on my bachelors degree in mathematics I had many opportunities to gain experience. I was a private tutor which included students from elementary, middle, and high school. One child I tutored, who was in middle school, was very bright but had ADHD and it was difficult for him to concentrate. I worked with him for about a year and by the time he was ready for high school, he was at the top of his class and was ready to start Geometry in high school. I tutored high schools students throug ... read more

I have been actively involved in Church youth work for the past twenty years. During that time I have mentored two to three high school students per year in algebra, chemistry, biology and physics. Basic math and science is critical to their future success in our hi-tech world and if they are willing to learn, I am willing to teach. Teaching has always been part of my professional career and I authored several technical training manuals during my years as the senior research engineer for Mobil Oil. My educational background includes a PhD in Chemical Engineering and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Illinois.
I believe there is a major difference between teaching the student how to get a good grade and mastering the fundamental concepts that control math and science. When helping a student with Algebra, it is critical to asses their basic skills in mathematical opera ... read more

My wife and I home-schooled our three children from 1993 until 2004. In addition, I was active in Scouts from 1994 until 2007 as Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor. These positions are supervisory in nature and involve both formal and informal teaching, mentoring and guiding. This experience also entailed several summer camps. My strengths are in the natural sciences, which formed the bulk of my work at UT, and English composition and grammar, as I gained extensive experience proofreading and writing essays for publication.
I typically employ the Socratic method: asking questions to discover what the student knows (or thinks he knows) and guiding his thinking toward discovering the knowledge himself. Both my three children and my Scouts have declared that they enjoy my teaching because it engages their interest and because it is frequently humorous ( ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience both tutoring degree level students in Geophysics and in mentoring junior programmers in programming C and C++. My science knowledge is second to none, and I am an extremely enthusiastic teacher. At school my strong math lead me to win the physics prize, and I continued with my interest in quantitative science through to my doctorate. Recently I have been developing my own software application, which uses both vector and matrix math in its design.
My teaching style has been to enthuse my students. I find the physical and mathematical models of the world to be fascinating, and try and show how exciting these models are to my listeners. Passing on that knowledge is incredibly rewarding, and I believe that I can present any scientific principal in an interesting way.

Tutoring is something I have enjoyed for the past 10 years. I started as a Supplemental Instructor for the University of Texas at Austin. I have tutored students in math courses with students ranging in skills. The youngest student was assisted in fourth grade math and the oldest in college math. My skills as a tutor have had an opportunity to mature along with my experiences.
It is important that any successful teacher is open to being adaptable to the student's need. I am patient and take into consideration the frustration of learn something that seems difficult. Positive reinforcement is essential to progress. My goal is always to get students to the point where they can become more independent.
