1980- 2015: worked for Nestle as food research chemist and retired in June 2015. Part of my job as a lead research scientist was to supervise and mentor interns. I was also a member of a team that provided training to Nestle employees globally on a regular basis. 1968-1980: Taught Chemistry (College Level) at the University of the East in the Philippines and at Los Angeles Valley College (Community College) in Los Angeles. From my teaching experience at the University of Iowa, I think that the level of understanding of the subject varies from student to student. Some students grasp the subject easily while it is hard for others. Therefore I always try to teach the subject in a manner that will consider all the different levels of students and in which questions are encouraged.
I have earned two MS degrees and a BS degree in chemistry in my academic career. I have two-and-a-half year experience of teaching undergraduate students at the University of Iowa. As an undergraduate student in India, I used to help my younger brother and cousins with school. Especially being in engineering my Math, Chemistry and Physics backgrounds are very strong. I have never tutored for money but I used to tutor a lot for free. This developed my passion for teaching and even as a graduate student at Univ. of North Texas, I used to teach undergraduate students (including freshmen).
