I have always been an honors student and am currently taking the highest levels of math (AP Calculus) and spanish (Spanish 5) at my high school. I am involved in Peer Mentors at my school and have tutored multiple students in a variety of subjects. I have also tutored students outside of school, mostly in math. I love teaching others and helping them to understand concepts that they previously were struggling with. I am very patient and will work my hardest to make sure those I tutor succeed in school.

My teaching style has been a product of working primarily with middle school kids. I believe that the hands on approach is the best way to reach these students. Using visual aids, manipulatives, foldables, and other materials provided can be extremely useful tools to reach them. Being actively involved in the learning process allows students to learn while they do not realize it.
As someone who entered teaching later in life, I began where most of my education to that point allowed, as a social studies teacher. I taught 5 years as a middle school social studies teacher. In 2002 I graduated with a degree in biotechnology. During the last semester of school, I was a substitute teacher, where I learned a lot about children and different teaching styles. After graduation, I pursued a career as a chemist, but I always maintained a second part-time job teaching, in some fashion. Usually, that teaching involved a pool. I have been a swimming lesson instructor for 10 years and have been a YMCA swim coach for 3 seasons, coaching over 200 children per year.
