I enjoy working with children. My theory of teaching is using the multiple intelligence theory. I believe that all children have the capacity to learn but in their own way. I believe that students can reach their potential if they are given the tools that they need. My job is to be the toolbox for them. As a special education teacher, I adapt my teaching style to meet the needs of the students. I believe that a child should be given a vast amount of positive reinforcement and always be spoken to and taught with respect. I also believe children need boundaries set that will consistently be reinforced. Our job is to teach them those boundaries but to do so with compassion. I received my BA from Azusa Pacific University in 1994. In 1995, I worked full-time as a teacher while going to school at night and received my Multiple Subject Credential. I have been teaching in the public schools since 1994. I have taught 7th and 8th grade math, science, US History, and ESL. I have also taught Seriously Emotionally Disturbed children, 1st grade, 6th grade, and Kindergarten. I have a passion for teaching students to read because my own child has dyslexia.
