A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with an MA in English (TESOL), and a BA in English Composition (writing). I have had a successful career as an English Instructor. My notable areas of expertise include writing (essays, GREs, SATs, TOEFLs, resume writing, etc.), grammar/linguistics, reading skills, oral communication, and vocabulary development. I am proficient in several foreign languages as well: Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin), Korean, and some Spanish.
I have had the experience of teaching students of all ages: kindergarteners, elementary schoolers, middle schoolers, high schoolers, and adults. I have also taught students whose primary language is not English. Each age group has required a different style of approach, so I cannot comment on my teaching style in full here, but suffice it to say that I cater my teaching style to match the student's age, academic skill, and time.

After earning my Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Mathematics in 1990 from the California State University at Stanislaus, I entered the credential program. In the credential program at C.S.U. Stanislaus, I became well prepared for all the nuances besides teaching that goes with being a teacher. I was introduced to the concept of classroom management, assertive discipline, and establishing a warm and friendly learning environment in the classroom. I learned and developed a repertoire of hands-on manipulatives, games, and puzzles to make the learning of math more exciting, fun, and easy.
