I have over 30 years of experience in the oil industry, initially in quality control, but quickly promoted to programmer after writing some programs on my own time to help with the quality control. Experienced Successful Math Tutor

I use a Socratic method whereby the student is encouraged to think about the math problem and generate suggestions about how to characterize it. Once the student's mind has been stretched a bit, I begin adding hints that direct the student's thought process in the direction of the solution.

My comments on tutoring Algebra : I have my bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering so complicated math is my favorite. I love to teach it and share my tricks of solving with students.
