Once the children learn to apply the proper steps to accomplish the task at hand, the feeling of accomplishment drives them to continue on their own.

During the completion of my BMA, I accepted a tutoring position and tutored all students (including disabled students) for two years. I enjoy watching students grasp the scientific method as it is something that comes naturally to most people if put in the right context. Science is rewarding to teach because it incorporates other disciplines like math. I often receive comments about my effective teaching style. I believe this is because of my education and that teaching science is a passion for me and a lifetime pursuit. I have noticed that people understand science better when it is related to their life. In other words, the student can apply a scientific concept in their own life. I love to teach and see the light go on in a child's head as he or she begins to understand. It is a great joy to see them succeed. Often, students have been rushed through the basic manipulative/hands-on discovery phase of learning, and have had to memorize rules in order to move on instead of truly understanding.
