A Little Bit About Me...

During my studies at SUNY Buffalo I tutored in Regents Math which I also took when I was in high school. In Virginia Tech I was a Graduate Research Assistant. I ran Aerospace Engineering labs, assigning work to undergraduate students which I graded. I was available for multiple hours per week assisting students in their homework and lab reports. Since then I have been a math tutor in calculus. Engineering requires a solid understanding of math from the basics such as algebra and geometry to more difficult calculus and linear algebra. What I have learned in both mathematics and physics is used almost on a daily basis which is why I know the subjects so well.

I completed two student teaching placements in mathematics classrooms during my education. I also completed a volunteer experience at Seneca Babcock Preschool where I aided the teacher in helping the children learn colors and numbers. In college, I tutored kids K-5 on primarily their reading skills. However, I also asked them if they needed any help with any other subject and what material was covered. From this I would put together study outlines from their notes and textbook. This allowed me to know ahead of time what should be emphasized. Also, when teaching a biology field to a more mature individual, I find that reading up on the material actually emphasizes my passion for the field. There also have been times I have made up mnemonics for certain biology topics, whether it is a rhyme, story, or parody of a song.
