I tend to be really flexible and try to adapt my teaching style to the learning style of the student. For students who tend to be more tactile, I might have them handle apples if a math problem references apples. If a student is working on a writing assignment, I will offer suggestions (such as marking spelling/grammar/punction mistakes) and help them learn how to correct the errors so they won't continue to make the same errors in the future.

My comments on tutoring Poetry : Many of my works of poetry have been published in national publications and well as being used for public use such as The Whitney Project, greeting cards, and postcards.

My first job right after turning 16 was working as a photographer and journalist for the local newspaper in my hometown. My main job was working with the teen section; GeneratioNext asking questions, taking polls, and writing articles that were teen related to teen issues, college and continuing education, and career goals. Throughout my junior high school and high school years I worked closely with the editor of the school newspaper as a writer, and with the yearbook committee taking classes in journalism and photography. I began my teaching career in South San Antonio, teaching at both the elementary level (K and 3) and at the middle school (6-8). At Shepard Middle School, I implemented a writing program that was credited with bringing standardized (TAAS at the time) scores up substantially, garnering our school a large monetary award from the state. After twelve years, I moved to the North East ISD, where I taught English at both Nimitz Middle School and Barbara Bush Middle School. I retired last June, but I still love working with children of all ages.
