A Little Bit About Me...

I have a BS in Psychology, and I have experience tutoring college students through an honors position as a Writing Fellow through Jackson Community College. I have studied, worked with, and helped publish various forms of writing. These forms include scientific journal articles (APA) and analytic essays (MLA). They also include creative forms of writing such as narrative essays, fiction, and poetry. In addition to extensive experience with composition, I have volunteered for athletic coaching, piano tutoring, guitar tutoring, and music theory tutoring.

As a current student at Central Michigan, I continue to strive for the best education I can possibly achieve. I have clepped out or aced all english classes at the college level and have found a great interest in writing and reading papers and essays. I am extremely familiar with both APA and MLA writing styles and have had numerous hours and years of practice writing papers and essays for my college level courses. I received a 1 on my MEAP writing and a 30 on my ACT writing/English section.
Al though I have never technically tutored or taught a child writing, I am interested in helping aid a child's learning experience. I am extremely personable and social, and would get along great with any child. I am patient, understanding and eager to provide my extensive knowledge of writing to those that need help.

One of the reasons that I'm interested in tutoring is that, although I love working with individual students and small groups, I am less interested in classroom management, discipline and the rest of the duties that come along with substitute teaching. I am excellent at relating to students and absolutely can help those who are willing to learn. I also appreciate that different students learn in different ways and strongly believe that alternative methods should be explored and encouraged if it gets a student learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I create a positive atmosphere and help students to be responsible first to themselves and then to their community. I also try to make my students aware of their potiential and guide them in processing information by first understanding the context in which it is used. Then I like to use visuals in my teaching style. I prefer to start with testing of some kind to assess the developmental level of the student.
My teaching experience began with my work with troubled youth in Michigan. I worked with the Fine Arts Team using the arts to teach visually. I also used positive Peer Culture for helping students to deal with their problems. I slso taught history at the school. I have 8 years experience; I worked for WSI teacher staffing for 3 yrs. and 5 yrs. for the Battle Creek School System in grades K-12 in most subjects
