I have worked as a tutor for 10 years in all subjects, especially focusing on ESL learners. Recently, I have worked in an ESL school (FLS International) with university age students seeking to matriculate into American Universities. Before that, I worked in South Korea teaching English. While employed at these schools, I also work part-time as a tutor- mostly for middle and high school age students. Many of my students struggle with time management, and this is a main focus in my tutoring sessions.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a very diverse background and I have many years of experience teaching in different subjects. I was an English teacher for one year in Korea, teaching children at a public school. I have taught fine art at a private school in Salinas. I have also been teaching martial arts and self-defense for over 10 years. I have worked with children as young as 4, to adults in their senior years. I hold a bachelor's degree in Business Marketing from San Jose State and I graduated with honors.

Teaching can be a most wonderful adventure. I believe every child can learn. At times students or overwhelming with new concepts, and they need to be encouraged, and praise until they can accomplish the task at hand. I enjoy seeing the appearence of awareness on a childs face, when they have accomplished a goal, or solved a problem they had difficulty solving. In college I was a nanny to three middle school students for two years. While being their nanny I was also their tutor in all subjects but focused on math. I graduated from SJSU with a major in History and a minor in Mathematics. I substitute taught in January and February 2007 then was a long-term substitute from March until the end of May in a sixth grade math, science, and history combination class. For the past two years I have taught eighth grade Algebra. While teaching I have also tutored a sixth grade student in math.
I believe there are multiple learning styles. One of my goals as a teacher is to find each students' learning style and teach to fit their needs. I believe that practice makes perfect but also that learning needs to be fun. I set the bar high for my students and do my best to help motivate them to reach a high standard.
