Tutoring should be a tool used to complement traditional education. When tutoring there is little help in providing information to the student the same way that the teacher presents it. Tutors may also fall into the trap of simply giving the student the answers. For these reasons I prefer an holistic approach to tutoring. Every student is different and they all have different ways of understanding the material. As I am tutoring I keep in mind that I am also learning, keeping an open mind about the way a students is learning helps me to determine the best method of teaching the subject at hand.

I have always loved numbers and they are my passion. As a student at FMCC I was able to pursue my goal and assist others along the way. I tutored mainly math at FMCC for about 1.5 years while still attending school, but also tutored in a variety of subjects ranging from english to science to business to accounting. As an undergraduate at Rhode Island College, I studied Physics and Mathematics. During this time, I was on the Dean's List for all 8 semesters, and earned the departmental award in Physics. When I was not working on my studies, I tutored both college students in the Physical Sciences Department, and high school students for the Upward Bound Program, which seeks to prepare inner-city high school students for their first year of college.
