I started out as a Computer Instructor and enjoyed teaching computer classes but something was missing. I saw that my children was not getting the education in the school system that I desired for them. I had wonderful teachers in school and Math was my favorite subject. I am now a degreed, homeschool mom of a 12th grader and a 9th grader - this is our 4th year. I have been a practicing Math Tutor for the past 15 years and tutor in Basic Math through Algebra 2. I love the subject of Algebra. I have been tutoring private students in Algebra 2 for 5 years now. I offer 16 years of English writing instructional experience. I have taught a diverse range of students, both in terms of abilities and cultural backgrounds. Instructional areas include English as a second language, developmental concerns, creative writing and poetry (I am a published poet), professional and technical writing. I have also provided SAT and AP preparation tutoring.
My instructional approach emphasizes interactivity, use of new technologies, and a positive, "we can do it" philosophy that acknowledges writing s a process that starts with the creation of ideas, moves to refinement and revision, and ends with emphasis on correctness.
