My comments on tutoring Chemistry : Can help up to high school level

I have experience in all of the fields that are listed. Most of the skills I have acquired were either through learning them during my time at school or through doing personal research because they interested me. I have done some tutoring in the computer/i.t field as a side job. Chess has been one of my favorite things to learn. My experience with chess has been a regional tournament where I made it to the last-round of the semi-finals.
I am a very hands-on teacher. I try to help students by showing them how it is done and then letting them practice.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in being hands on and visual, many students have problems in math and science because they are unable to visualize the words written in their books. I am extremly organized so that my time is best spent on the most difficult areas for each individual student.

In a tutoring situation there is usually the immediate need (to pass a test) and the long term need to be able to succeed on their own. I try to balance these two goals but the guidance of the parents is most critical. While substitute teaching various subjects, I discovered my hidden talent – making math understandable for youth. My other gifts include excellent grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. I don’t have a teacher’s certificate, however, and am currently choosing not to substitute, but I miss the personal interaction with students who want to learn.
Giving a student the answer does not facilitate their learning. My style of tutoring and teaching is to reinforce the basics, ask leading questions and give examples that assist the student discover the correct answers for him or herself.
