The motto of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society is "Love of learning is the guide of life". I live my own life by this ideal, and I try my best to instill a love of learning in my students. Too many students believe, indeed have been taught, that math is just a series of formulas and recipes to be learned and memorized. Understanding concepts doesn’t seem to be necessary or even desirable. No wonder students “hate” math! I believe that understanding important concepts is essential to learning math, and that obtaining the "right answer" is less important than trying to understand a problem and “discovering” a method to solve it, even if that method is “not what the teacher is looking for.”

I graduated Boston College with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in liberal arts;susequentally I earned a D.D.S. Degree fron NYU. My teaching style is a combination of serious, in-depth theory and practical examples to demonstrate such theories, all with a hint of humor, followed by significant practice of the newly learned skills. I've been "teaching" people all of my business career. I always start with the underlying theory and immediately segue into a practical example of how the principles work.
