I have worked with many different types of children and adults. I've found that each person responds differently to different styles of teaching and I am able to adapt to each individual's needs. My first objective is finding what teaching style a person responds to best to and formulating a plan for them next. During a span of 20 years as reporter, sports writer, copy editor, section editor and editor-in-chief, I trained many new hires -- and even a few veterans -- in spelling, grammar, punctuation, comprehension of written material and in writing. I did not take graduate classes, but I did take the Graduate Record Exam. I scored in the upper 15% in both Verbal and Essay. I do not consider myself a classically trained scholar or academic.
