Currently a sophomore in High School, I'm looking to tutor up to around the 6-7th grade levels. I have very much experience in science especially. Currently in biology Honors. Experenced ABA therapist.

Biology is one of my top subjects!

Hi, my name is Tori. I am currently in the 11th grade with a 3.92 GPA. School and academics have always been a strong point for me, and I love to learn. I have straight A's in all my classes, and often help teachers with other students. I am in a peer tutoring program and love helping others to do better in school. I aspire to go to college in New York, majoring in Psychology and minoring in either Music or Philosophy. I look forward to helping you/your child learn!

My comments on tutoring Biology : I completed the course with and A+ average and passed the final exam with a 98.

I prefer a hands-on approach when possible. I lik to help the children relate to what they are learning in order to help them remember it.
I was a straight A student throughout school. I am currently a high school senior, so the information is still fresh in my mind. I have spent a few semesters as a tutor and volunteer assistant in a local elementary school. I enjoy working with children and being able to help them succeed in school, because without school, the future is bleak!

My teaching style can best be described as entertaining, insightful, dedicated, flexible and individually-oriented. I feel that for any individual who chooses to learn something new, the biggest key to their success is motivation and their personal interest in what they are looking to learn. I also recognize that many students (especially young learners) are guided to study various lessons/fields by parents/educators and they need to find what they are being guided to study interesting in some way. I work to create a welcoming rapport with students and then, using my knowledge of the study being taught along with paying close attention to the desires and needs of a student, create a lesson that student finds interesting and therefore become drawn to. I like to try to make all my lessons exciting and to always end with the student feeling good about whatever they may have learned. As ... read more

I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I too was tutored going through school and not just once. I attended Sylvin Learning Center every other year since sixth grade. It helped me understand the areas that I didnt and excel in the areas I did. I would like to give thas opportunity to someone else.
I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.

In addition I have teaching certificates for both fields as well as Biology. I've held Library, Biology, General Science, English and Math teaching positions. I believe that all children are capable of learning--the trick is to figure out each child's individual style. I believe strongly in developing positive relationships with my students, and the rapport I have with them in the classroom or while tutoring has aided their successes. I tend to adjust my methods as I learn more about my students, and my students have experienced quite a bit of success in the past.
I have a BS in Elementary Education and just completed my sixth year of teaching at the elementary level. I have experience teaching grades 2, 3 and 4, and I'm comfortable tutoring students in all aspects of the elementary curriculum up through grade 8. While in college, I tutored fellow college students for two years in biology, English and math, and I was named Outstanding Tutor in my second year.

A Little Bit About Me...

While working with at risk students, I was faced with challenges that ranged from behavioral, health, educational, as well as family dynamics. With that experience I have learned to be fluid with your teaching approaches with the students. During my time with the students I noticed that some were able to learn by a verbal approach and others were more visual. In spite of the approach I noticed that it was important that you hold the attention of the child by making it exciting as well as be patient and considerate of their feelings.
While working at Excel Personal Development, I had the opportunity to mentor students ranging from elementary school to Middle School. Over the five years with the organization I have worked with at risk students that were diagnosed with mental diagnosis. While working with these students I was able to assist them in developing life skills, English ... read more
