A Little Bit About Me...

After, graduation I was an Ed Tech III. Assisting in reading and math. From there I went on to teach Kindergarten at Coastal Christian School in Waldoboro. I taught there for 7 years. During that time I tutored many students in math and reading after school hours. I am currently working on the endorsement 020.
I am eager to get back to teaching. I love to work with children and I know it is a gift from above. I use many hands on techniques to help my students learn. I also observe my students to see what technique of teaching reaches them best. I use the method that is needed.

I prefer working as a collaborative team with teaching staff/specialists. I believe most of my success comes from continued conversations and ongoing discussions about best practices during staff meetings and professional development workshops. I believe if we can integrate content with cross-curricular themes and skills such as writing across the curriculum in all subjects, not just during the language arts block, All students can access prior knowledge and reframe their thinking when appropriate. I am currently attending the University of Maine in order to receive my Masters of Arts in Teaching for Secondary Education in Life Science. I am currently certified as and Ed. Tech 3 in the state of Maine and will be receiving my teaching certificate when I graduate in June, 2010.
