I am currently studying early childhood education (3.5+ years of study so far). I am willing to accept any challenge, I love to help kids learn. I know some basic Spanish, have experience with kids with special needs, and am first aid and CPR certified. Teaching is my passion, I want to help your kids succeed in school and enjoy learning. Throughout my experience at Otterbein, I worked in a variety of classrooms ranging from a Preschool to 3rd grade. I have experience in both suburban and urban schools working with children of varying abilities and skill levels. I completed my official Student Teaching experience in a Kindergarten classroom in a suburban school in the Westerville City School District. Outside of Otterbein, was also a volunteer literacy tutor for a 3rd grade student in the Westerville City School District.

Due to my special education training, I am able to determine a student's learning style and teach to their strength. I also like to educate students about the different learning styles and make them aware of their learning strengths.
Columbus Public Schools 1987-1997: During this time period, I taught at the high school, middle school, and elementary level. I then left formal education to stay home with my children. While at home raising my daughters, I did home tutoring from 1989-2006. I then returned to teaching by doing home instruction for Bloom-Carroll (2003-2004)and Fairfield Union (2005). A Little Bit About Me...

Raised in a disadvantaged social-economic environment, I sought success by joining the military; traveling and learning about the world. Upon my retirement I decided to give back by bringing the diversity of the world into the classroom. I graduated college cum laude and served as the President, International English Honor Society; Sigma Tau Delta. My degree in English Literature provides many levels of the written word by allowing for the understanding of differences that is desired and required by the individual learner. I teach all aspects of the curriculm, with emphasis on grammatical skills. During my last long-term position my students increased their state reading and writing scores by over 7%.
