A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching and coaching. As a chess coach I taught a group of 10-20 children. I have also helped coach some of my son's sports, but what I really enjoy is one-on-one teaching although my experience is mostly limited to teaching my third grade son who is very advanced and teaching accounting to a non-accountant assistant at work. I am patient and respectful and am able to get along well with everyone.
I have a very strong level of education and experience in accounting and finance. I have a BS in Accountancy at the University of Illinois and passed the CPA as well. In addition to the insurance designations of FLMI, FFSI and AIAF, I also passed the Series 7, 27 and 63 exams and was a broker/dealer Financial and Operations Principal for several years. I have a very strong background in writing. My experience includes my graduate research and thesis, news writing for a tv station, in addition to 6 years of writing for academia. I spent a semester in Pau, France and can tutor beginning to intermediate level students. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA in high school, college and graduate school.
I don't believe in giving a student the answers to their questions. Rather, I think it is important to help them find the answers themselves--understanding the process will enable them to perform on their own. For example, rather than editing a student's paper, I will go through it line by line and have them help me find the errors.
