A Little Bit About Me...

In science and math the learner has to practice much like learning to play a musical instrument. It helps if you can bring real world applications into the classroom so it is meaningful to the students otherwise they feel like they are learning something just for the cause of learning.
While completing my teaching degree I taught for three years with troubled youth. Subjects were regents level and the subject was earth science and algebra or course I as it is called in NY. I have also taught Summer school at the Allen Center in South Kortright which can be a tough crowd to work with. During my undergraduate studies I tutored chemistry and biology. A Little Bit About Me...

While I am not a teacher by profession, I spent much time in the academic support center at SUNY Cobleskill as a freshman tutoring students in different kinds of math. (ie: algebra,fractions, etc) and occasionally in english and science. I also had to lead several class discussions at grad school at times, teaching the readings or materials for that week. This included presentations and answering questions from the audience. I attained my first degree in Supply Chain Management from Syracuse University in 2003. After working in that field for a few years, however, I chose to change my career path. I then went back to school at the City College of New York to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering. I am happy to say that I am graduating this month (December 2010), and have not regretted pursuing this second degree at all.
