I enjoy working with and teaching all levels of students and children. No two children learn in the same way. It is important to differentiate and identify the way that each child needs to be taught and engaged in the lesson. Lessons must be concrete and meaningful to a child. I have been substitute teaching for 5 years. Within that time I decided that teaching was for me and went on to get my degree and certificate to teach. I have completed several long-term substitute teaching positions, picking up where a teacher left off, often times unexpectedly. I have taught classes in the elementary, middle and high school.
My philosophy is that education is power. Knowledge is our greatest defense and our greatest weapon. Through knowledge we gain experience, which enriches our competence, which protests the ills of society, which leads to a social justice, and most important, liberty. Learning is an activity that we should never stop, and if we do, we begin to die. I believe all children can learn given the appropriate avenues to success. My teaching style is to have a set of problems made up for the students to observe as examples to help understand certain chapters. I will assign additional problems if needed and focus on the subject matter that is the hardest for the individual to understand.
I have taken statistics and gotten an A in the course and still have all course materials to give a general overview of statistics and how to use SPSS. I am knowledgeable on the software and would be able to answer questions on statistics because of how well I did and how I used to help others who struggled with the class.
