I stopped working in the hospitals when my oldest child reached the age of 5, so that I could teach my children at home. The four of them are now grown and successful. I employed many techniques during my time homeschooling them, as between them were exhibited several learning styles. It was a delightful experience.

Creative Writing is one of my top subjects! The pen is mightier than the sword! Through creative writing, students will feel the full benefit of this old-but-true statement. Students will look at the building blocks of story in order to better communicate themselves. Students will learn the power of flow and dynamic story in order to better communicate with others. Students will garner and awareness for the human condition in order to learn to write more powerfully.

Throughout undergraduate and now graduate work, I have always had a passion for passing along what I know, in hopes of teaching and inspiring, and developing others. I have two years of private-school teaching behind me, as well as two summers working with inner-city kids in a program that used the arts to bridge the gap between social and educational shortfalls within the city. I am well read and well versed in classical and current literature, with published articles and short stories to my credit. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoyed working with children, and tried on every ocassion to make learning fun to each student. I realized that every student learn different and work diligently to get on that child level of learning. I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Deaf Education. I loved working with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, but it was extremely hard finding a job doing that in my area. Due to that fact, I started tutoring as many kids from the local schools as much as possible and I loved doing it. That also motivated me to work on adding endorsements to my teaching license so that I can teach regular education as well. I’ve added Special Education (k-12) and Social Studies (7-12) and I am working on adding English and Math as well. I am excited about given the opportunity to work in the school system.
