My comments on tutoring Elementary Phonics : Certified IL Teacher

I like to teach the student, which means I tailor lessons/activities and supplemental materials to the student. The goal is to see where the student, where the student needs to be, and find the road that will merge the two in the most beneficial way for the student.
As a certified teacher, I have several hundred hours in a classroom with field experience and student teaching. I am familiar with state and Common Core standards, classroom lingo, and classroom/school procedures. As a certified TESL instructor, I have worked as an ESL teacher for Aston English in Weihai, China for the past 12 months. Getting to know the student and relating thier interests to the material at hand is key to making a connection. I also believe it is critical to remain positive and supportive with students. At some point every student becomes frustrated by material that is challenging to them.
