My comments on tutoring Social Studies : I spent many years teaching Middle School Social Studies and am quite knowledgeable about the curricula for grades 6-8: Ancient History, the World in the Middle Period of History and American History. I also worked as a member of a team developing curriculum materials for grade 7 Social Studies and have trained teachers in that curriculum.

I believe learning should always be engaging and meaningful. It is critical to address individual student learning modalities and needs so the student can experience great success. Social Studies is one of my top subjects!

Mandarin Chinese - I use Total Physical Response Teaching (TPRS) when teaching elementary aged novice learners, which teaches Chinese as well as American Sign Language. History - I teach history using the many multi-media databases that I subscribe to each month. Musical instruments - patience and hands on. I ask the student what song they want to learn and start learning the first lesson.
Through my educational studies and life experiences I have gained a firm grasp and appreciation for Mandarin Chinese and Chinese culture. I passed my high school years with A's and B's and have also been passing my university/college classes with the same.
