Music lessons in the natural method with Ukulele

I teach in a laid-back, natural method. We like to have fun! I respect all talented, dedicated & accomplished classical musicians and anyone who reads musical notation. I don't teach sheet music or following musical pieces along as if you were reading instructions. I prefer to get blossoming musicians in touch with the natural way to enjoy music and express themselves. We accomplish this with playing by ear, utilizing musical properties and phrases that work together well, and making a connection with the music and its meaning. For the past six years I have been focusing on Hawai'ian music and Hawai'ian culture. I mostly work with adolescents and middle school aged children as an English teacher.Working with students with disabilities has taught me to be patient, considerate and compassionate with diverse groups needing more attention than regular ed children. Each child has a different learning ability and level of comprehension which has to be meet individually in a classroom of 32 kids.
