I taught all subjects for adult learners preparing for the GED tests through Region IX Education Services Center's Adult Education program for 4 years in the evenings. I also taught English as a Second Language to adults. I am an Adult reading tutor for adults who could not read. I taught mathematics, vocabulary and biology to high school graduates preparing to take the nursing entrance exam at Vernon College. My teaching style is one in which I strive to engage students in the subject by both instructing and challenging them to think on their own. I also strive to accomplish this goal in such a manner that the student experiences the fun that is a part of learning, but one that also emphasizes the importance of the learning process as well. I believe children can learn if you show them the direct way; as a math or chemistry tutor I use some easy techniques that children can learn and remember by; but basically just show them by examples. I have two degrees from college: A Master's Degree in Communications and a BA in Journalism. I have been teaching now for about eight years (all levels). I love working with children and adults alike. Teaching college was very rewarding. However,for the past four years I have been a long-term substitute working a variety of subjects.It has been immensely rewarding to work with kids. I have mainly worked at elementary schools. Yet, I have a lot of exposure in working with students at the secondary level as well. I have extensive reading, writing, and grammatical skills through my degrees.
