A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring as an undergrad student working for the college's academic support office tutoring math and science courses. After graduating cum laude with a BA in Mathematics, BS in Meteorology, Physics minor, and Secondary Education certification, I went straight into teaching. For the next 8 years I was a jr high and high school math and science teacher. I taught Physics, earth Science, Physical Science, General Science, and math classes ranging from 7th grade basic math up through trigonometry. Last year I returned to school to earn a masters degree in Applied Statistics from Cornell University. Math can be fun, especially when applied to exciting applications. For my work at NASA and the MITRE Corporation I use concepts from Calculus I-II almost everyday. Inspiring students to become excited about math and science is one of my life-long goals. Step by step visual diagrams can be effective tools for describing complex ideas. I have taught with students from the age of 6 to the age of 29 in all subjects from math and reading, to philosophy and history. I am relaxed and zealous when teaching students. I have a known record at teaching my guitar students all the basic chords within 3 lessons. I also have raised the SAT scores with every students that I tutored for the SAT's.
