I love to help people in the best way I can so they can achieve their goals. I was taught by my professors that everyone learns in different ways. The difference in learning styles is where I believe that I can help students excel by providing different ways of learn, understanding, and obtaining educational information.
I graduated from Saint Joseph College with a BS in biology, which allowed me to build a foundation within life sciences and mathematics. I learned critical skills that allowed me to develop excellent grammatical skills through generating numerous lab reports and research papers. I continued my education by obtaining certification in histological science, which allowed me to have hands on experience. It also landed me an internship at Pfizer. I subscribe to the principle: tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them, tell them what you have told them. To avoid mind-numbing repetition, I present the material with a combination of text and pictures, then review the material with ungraded short answer exercises ("active learning – I do and I understand"). Then we summarize. I also connect what the student is learning with previous course content to promote learning by association. I use a variety of exercises to reinforce content, including case studies, diagram creation and annotation, group discussion (where a group is available).
