I prefer to teach with open dialogue. Feedback and discussion is one of the most solid methods for evaluating comprehension. My preferred method of teaching is hands-on, through real experiments. Unfortunately, experiments cannot always be done, so I use lots of illustrations and age-appropriate analogies that are easy to relate to. Many times students are convinced that science is a subject too difficult to conquer, that they must just survive it, but science is all around us.
