A Little Bit About Me...

I have always wanted to teach. When I was a child I would round up the kids in my neighborhood and make them do lessons that I created. I do remember they did not like that. I went to college and earned a BS in Biology always knowing that I would eventually teach the sciences. I was an excellent student and have always found pride in myself on my ability to communicate with clearity. I have one year of tutoring experience at the k-12 level. Attaining a degree in the sciences has helped me to develop key writing as well as key listening skills. I am very capable of tutoring in most subjects.
I would say that my teaching style is very interactive. Anyone can give instructions but I love feedback from a one on one situation as well as a group environment. A Little Bit About Me...

When I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in 2002, I accepted a job at a small school in upstate NY that needed a PE teacher. I quickly learned to just relax and "go with the flow" of how the students learned the material and what kind of different activities that we could do to "drive home" the concept of what we were studying. I also learned to be very flexible. I wore many many different hats that first year of teaching which has given me to experience I needed in my recent years of teaching. I am passionate about sports, athletics, history and teaching as a whole!
As I mentioned in the above paragraph, I meet the child where they are in their learning style. I can adapt to how they learn best and then use different activities and tools to again, "drive home" the concept of what the child may be struggling with. I love teaching anything!

I enjoy helping people learn something new. I think anyone can do anything they put their mind to. I would allow the student time to get to know me so they would feel comfortable with me. Students sometimes feel too vulnerable to try things when they don't know someone because they do not want to make mistakes. I would let them know that the only way to get better at something is to make mistakes so they can learn from those mistakes by making the appropriate corrections. Confidence is key. I moved to Germany in 1995, spending time learning German and teaching part-time at the International School of Hamburg. In 1998, I started a one-year, full-time contract, teaching a pre-kindergarten class. After that, I returned to New Jersey, where I worked for 3 years before being offered a permanent position at the International School again in 2002, which I accepted. I feel like the less regulations and rules on an art assignment the more playful and creative the individual will be. you have to care about what you are doing before anyone else will.
I love children. While attending high school and college I babysat several children from four months old up to 13 years old.
