I believe that learning through hands-on experience is the best way to fully comprehend material. I want to interest students in academics. To accomplish this, a teacher must show how math, or reading is useful; how anything can be exciting. I want to make learning fun. And I use a variety of tactics to accomplish this.
I recently graduated from Bard College, a selective liberal arts school in New York. I have taken classes in a variety of subjects including biology, french, history, and writing. I recently completed a 90 page thesis. I have excellent critical thinking and writing skills, which have served me well as a student. As a tutor, I strive to engage my students in thinking complexly about the topic at hand. I have experience tutoring middle school aged children in music, math, and writing. I also have experience working with preschool aged children.

A Little Bit About Me...

The guitar has always been my biggest passion, and I have made it my goal to learn as much about it as possible. This search has led me to study classical guitar and music theory formally at the University of Delaware for three years before leaving to study recording in a professional technical environment at the Omega Studios' School. Previously to college, I performed with an original rock group called Society Ills, where I gained experience writing, arranging, recording, and producing our music. A Little Bit About Me...

While studying Spanish at Messiah College, I completed my major course requirements ahead of schedule and began to tutor other students in my sophomore year. I studied abroad in Quito, Ecuador, and I've traveled to various places in Mexico, which has fostered in me an appreciation for Hispanic culture as well as expertise in the language. I have tried to inspire the same enthusiasm in students of Spanish who may or may not have had the opportunity to travel to a Spanish-speaking country.
