I love to teach! I am a fourth year medical student with a wide variety of teaching experience. In the University at Buffalo, I was a teaching assistant for a biology course for college students. I have also tutored through the organization of BIg Brothers Big Sisters. I have a biomedical sciences degree and a history degree so I am well rounded and well versed to fit your teaching needs!

Throughout my teaching career I have had the opportunity to teach a diverse group of students from K-12 in a core subject areas. I taught kindergarten for three years. I have also taught math and reading in an online classroom. Currently I substitute teach in all subject areas. I believe all these experiences have helped make me a dedicated, flexible, and nurturing educator. I am a patient teacher not rushing the students to complete the task so we can quickly move onto the next skill. I would rather take the time and know the student is comfortable with a concept before adding new information. I use a variety of strategies from flashcards to mnemonic techniques to worksheets to hands-on activities, basically whatever will help the student become successful.

I described most of that in the above category. I can only add that I taught one-on-one, coached and conducted small ensembles, worked with groups of 100+ as a clinician or guest artist. I enjoyed all these levels of contact. I was a professor at Ithaca College for 34 years in the music department. In that capacity I taught private performance lesson, coached chamber ensembles, conducted various ensembles. supervised and coached student teachers, performed in a faculty artist-in-residence quintet, performed solo recitals, assisted students in writing essays, resumes, and applications for positions in the teaching field or graduate studies. I also had many experiences helping students through difficult academic and personal issues.
