Earth Science is one of my top subjects! Ever since I was a small child, science has been my favorite subject. Most of my college career has been centered around Environmental, and Biological sciences; including, geology/geography, oceanography, and even botany.

I prefer hands on teaching, but I like to remain flexible to the individuals learning style. Depending on the topics covered, we read, write, and do hands-on activities to keep the brain stimulated. Sometimes if applicable, and with parental consent, we would do art projects and maybe watch an educational film (that the parent has approved of course). For sciences and social studies I really like the idea of field trips, but everything will be permitted by the parental figures first. These field trips usually include going to parks and observing natural habitats, or even visiting the local museums. We can usually negotiate a small group trip which makes the costs slim to none to have these extra curricular activities.

I have been a tutor in biology and anthropology since 1998 at the college level. I have been teaching in both areas since 2003 part time at various community colleges. I am also certified as a substitute teacher in NV and hold a license to teach biology in grades 7-12.
I use a variety of aides - lecture, video, images, models, hands on and so forth to address several types of learning. I believe in the Democratic approach to Educating the young. I start the year by asking the students what they would like to learn that year and we record this on a large sheet of paper. Students feel happy to know their wishes are so considered and then at the end of the year we review the list and they see that they have covered everything they wanted to learn and much more.
